The trip took almost an hour and a half of walking, and that was in addition to the hour or so they’d spent in hiding, watching and waiting for any sign of pursuit. Neither Gabriella or Master Blancher had questioned what Josephine had said she’d seen, and that fact both comforted and depressed her. Eventually, however, Diane had insisted they move forward with their mission, and thick layers of foreboding settled over Josephine as they approached the perimeter fence.
