The RV rumbled into Amarillo late the following afternoon, and Josephine found herself relegated to the back as Diane and Gabriella switched off between driving and navigating. The two women chatted and joked in the front, and Josephine rode alone, unable to find a way to participate in the lively conversations. She couldn’t help but feel left out; even still, she was thankful for the time to catch up on both reading and sleep.
